Job description

Job Summary

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities around all maintenance equipment. Provides technical expertise and project management for equipment undertakings, focusing on CNC troubleshooting, repairs, controls of existing equipment, and leading the design of new equipment. May also work with robotic systems and other manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Silfex Quality Management System and apply Quality Procedures.
  • Implement manufacturing improvements including 5S, Lean, TPM, FMEA, and SMED.
  • Interface with operations and engineering to improve product quality, compliance, safety, reliability, and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Manage capital projects up to $1 million and lead large equipment installations.
  • Act as the technical resource for the CNC department, incorporating electrical, quality, production, and design disciplines to create solutions.
  • Analyze maintenance data to identify trends and perform root cause analysis to improve equipment and processes.
  • Design, write, and implement maintenance procedures and policies for new and existing equipment.
  • Provide troubleshooting, repair, and evaluation expertise to plant personnel to optimize equipment uptime, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Determine feasibility of designing new plant equipment or modifying existing facilities considering cost, space, time, and technical factors.
  • Evaluate and research manufacturing processes, confer with vendors for product specifications, and ensure contract compliance.
  • Train and develop maintenance technicians through structured training programs.
  • Participate in special projects, cross‑train plant‑wide maintenance activities, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a safe workplace by modeling safety policies, reporting incidents, and wearing required PPE.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (B.S.) with at least 8 years of experience, or high‑school diploma with equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years in manufacturing plant maintenance, with preference for 5‑axis CNC and PLC experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, CMMS, ERP, Microsoft applications, and database software.
  • Demonstrated implementation of 5S, TPM, SMED, and Lean principles; Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer‑service orientation and ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
Physical Demands

The role typically requires standing, walking, sitting, using hands, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, with occasional climbing or balancing. Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
