In this position...

Battery Manufacturing Engineering is a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants and new powertrain and battery cell and assemblies at component plants. The Manufacturing Engineer candidate will be a part of this team. As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we’re continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Responsible for all items related to the implementation of building and facilities for new programs related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, and development and delivery of Site CM/PM (Construction Management / Project Management) contracts
  • Lead the installation of all new program process equipment and Ford Production System team support facilities/areas in support of delivering a complete manufacturing system.
  • Issue and ensure Architectural Engineering contracts and services are aligned with the objective of delivering designs that are compliant and reflect Ford Land Construction Specifications and PTME Strategies and Specifications
  • Ensure all applicable safety requirements are satisfactory met for UAW self-performed work, prime contractors, and all sub-contractors
  • Ensure AE/CM/Sub-contractor designs utilize 3D tools that are incorporated into BIM designs for design verification, constructability, material and task planning, safety pre-task planning using photographs from scanning for pre-demolition, safety pre-task analysis development, and as-built design delivery to the plant
  • Participate in the cost study process for New Model Programs with PTME and Ford Land facility Teams ensuring program funding and line item definition are built in support of program initiatives
  • As required, issue purchase orders to generate the initiation of orders within the CM / AE in the Ford Purchasing system
  • Lead indicted cost tracking utilizing PTME Program checkbook processes
  • Manage timing deck reviews and updates holding weekly CM/contractor/AE Owners Reviews
  • Review and provide vital payments for applicable invoices (CM, AE, Safety, Environmental and Third-Party Testing and Certification, etc.) on a monthly basis using the Global Payment Approval Process
  • Lead the work order process for Plant Skilled Trades and associated review of estimates ensuring competitiveness of work plans
  • Coordinate with Plant Management and ongoing operations for all required relocations of existing areas as related to specific program actions
  • Provide updates to electronic program status systems (BPR decks, Program Manager monthly 1- pagers, PTME Monthly Infrastructure Team Program Reviews, etc.)
  • Travel up to 75% to TN sites (site-based location is also option)
Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a combination of education and work experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in facilities engineering, infrastructure engineering, maintenance or construction
  • Ability to support launch programs on extended travel
  • Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, Project, P6, AutoCAD etc.), 2D(AutoCAD), and 3D CAD review abilities (Navisworks, Revit, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)
  • Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles
  • Strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, GD&T etc.)
  • Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIM, Ariba

  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • 5+ years experience in the industry with facilities, infrastructure, maintenance or construction experience
