Job summary

Emerge is seeking a Facilities Electrical Project Engineer in Hampton, VA to lead electrical and controls scope for process improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigation from concept through start-up.

You will support PLC, HMI, and robotic systems, maintain automation records, ensure EHS compliance, and coordinate with contractors. A bachelor’s in EE and 2+ years’ relevant experience are required; ITAR compliance applies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with electrical systems (power distribution, PLCs, HMIs, databases).
• Project management experience required.
• Understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical control systems.
• Ability to program Allen Bradley/ControlLogix/Modicon PLC systems.
• Experience programming Wonderware, SQL, and touchscreen HMI/SCADA systems.
• Knowledge of NEC/NFPA and other electrical safety codes.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Inventor.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage electrical and controls scope of process improvement, capital expansion, and obsolescence mitigation projects.
• Coordinate all project phases from scope development to start-up and closure.
• Support production and maintenance on equipment and process issues, focusing on reliability and productivity via automation.
• Provide advanced support for PLC, HMI, and robotic systems across platforms.
• Maintain accurate automation documentation and system changes.
• Propose and implement improvements to existing automation systems.
• Oversee facility equipment and process safety, including EHS policy compliance.
• Supervise contractor work to ensure compliance with company and safety policies.
