NWC News Desk is seeking a Facilities Director to lead the college’s physical plant services, including operations, custodial, grounds, and transportation across Powell, Field Station, and Cody campuses. You will manage staff, budgets, and safety programs to ensure reliable facility operations.

Job Summary

This position directs the College’s physical plant services activities, including personnel management and budget management, which include: facilities operation and maintenance; custodial services; grounds and landscaping; and transportation operations. (College-wide oversight, locations include but not limited to Powell, Field Station, and Cody.) Re-posted 4/8/26: Position is open until filled.

Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensures that employees follow policies and procedures; maintains a healthy and safe working environment; makes hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
Directs and oversees continuous and reliable facilities operations among multiple service areas which includes planning, coordinating, administering, integrating, and evaluating programs, projects, processes, procedures, systems, standards, and/or service offerings. Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards; coordinates activities between multiple service areas; works to integrate and coordinate service areas.
Identifies, responds to, and resolves issues and concerns related to facilities, transportation, custodial, events, and/or grounds maintenance issues including emergencies. Oversees and manages Field Station operations, maintenance and compliance.
Directs and oversees project management and the execution of contracts, including scope, project development, negotiation, administration, review, acceptance, advertising, and contract awards; reviews and approves payment applications; performs final inspections and approvals of completed projects.
Develops and administers budget; prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; monitors and controls expenditures; manages financial operations.
Participates in/on a variety of meetings, committees, training sessions, conferences and/or other related groups in order to receive and conveys information and to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships.
Assists with the development of the facilities master plan to provide academic and administrative facilities that meet the goals and objectives of the College; assists in the planning and mitigation of campus hazard vulnerability plans.
Develops construction plans for in-house and contracted projects; develops specifications, cost estimates, sketches, and drawings sufficient to provide direction to contract work forces or in-house staff for various facility projects throughout the College.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Required Training and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Facilities, Construction Management, or related field, and five years of management experience in a Maintenance, Custodial, and/or Grounds function; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

  • Valid Wyoming Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
  • Valid Wyoming Class B Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL ) with passenger and airbrakes endorsement or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. Must be able to pass and maintain the federally mandated DOT physical as required for the CDL license with passenger and airbrakes endorsement.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, feeling, and repetitive motions

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, intense noises, vibrations, fumes, odors, gases, workspace restrictions, and travel.

Incumbents may be subjected to evening, weekend, and holiday work.

Must be able to pass and maintain the federally mandated DOT physical as required for maintaining a valid Wyoming Class B Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL ) with passenger and airbrakes endorsement
