Job summary

The City of Sarasota is seeking a reliable facilities janitorial worker to perform cleaning and semi-skilled maintenance in City-owned facilities. This full-time role requires the ability to perform routine cleaning, basic repairs, and assist with event setup.

Must have a High School Diploma or GED, 1 year janitorial experience, and a valid Florida driver's license. Work involves lifting, bending, and exposure to cleaning chemicals with safety precautions in place.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1 year of janitorial experience, preferably with some experience in semi-skilled repair work.
• Possession of and ability to maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License is required.

Responsibilities

• Mops halls and floors; cleans and dusts offices.
• Maintains cleanliness of buildings and facilities.
• Performs minor building maintenance tasks including minor repairs of masonry, plumbing, electrical work and carpentry.
• Opens and locks buildings for meetings and/or events.
• Raises and lowers flag and secures facility when work is complete.
• Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and ensures safe working environment.
