Job summary

Grand Rapids Public Schools is seeking a Custodian to maintain district buildings and grounds, supporting educational processes through clean, safe facilities. The role reports to the Operations leader and may work in multiple buildings as needed.

The position requires teamwork, reliability, and adherence to district policies. Hourly rate starts at 17.74 with a non-negotiable starting rate under the collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to district and departmental mission statements and goals.
• Maintain the physical plant in a sanitary, safe, and functional condition.
• Perform daily custodial and grounds tasks according to schedule.
• Operate and maintain cleaning and grounds equipment.
• Maintain records including payroll and attendance; manage shift logs.
• Ensure a safe work environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Travel between buildings during your shift and assist as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
