Job summary

The Salvation Army Kroc Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a Custodian to perform building cleaning, janitorial duties, and room setup for meetings and activities. You will maintain a clean environment for employees and clients while complying with Salvation Army policies.

You will also assist with pantry food deliveries, inventory cleaning supplies, and support teams during programs. A positive attitude and flexibility are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• High School education or its equivalent preferred.
• Basic experience in maintenance and knowledge of related tools and equipment.
• Valid Driver’s license/MVR clearance.

Responsibilities

• Clean entire building including offices and Chapel.
• Attend to bathrooms, replace towels and toilet paper, ensure soap dispensers are filled.
• Attend to all countertops in bathrooms and kitchen.
• Set up classrooms and other rooms for corps activities and weekly meetings.
• Inspect the building to remove cobwebs and replace light bulbs as needed.
• Empty all garbage containers and dispose at the bin in the parking lot.
• Supervise and work with Community Service Workers to clean and prepare building for programs.
• Help unload food delivery for the pantry.
