Job summary

Grand Haven City Hall is seeking a part-time custodian to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper functioning of Central Park Place. Duties include custodial tasks, minor repairs, preventive maintenance, and event setup.

The role requires monitoring security, coordinating with contractors, maintaining records, and supporting after-event teardown. Work is on-site with an evening schedule, ~20 hours weekly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• Previous custodial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, dusting, restroom sanitizing.
• Empty trash and maintain waste areas.
• Keep common areas, offices, and meeting rooms tidy; perform minor repairs.
• Coordinate with external contractors for major repairs.
• Maintain exterior areas, including sidewalks, parking lots, and landscaping.
• Monitor building security and ensure exits are clear.
• Prepare event spaces and assist with setup and takedown.
• Dismantle equipment and restore space after events.
• Maintain records and track cleaning supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.
