Job summary

City of Olathe is seeking a dedicated Custodian I to keep public spaces clean and welcoming across recreational facilities and libraries. You will wipe surfaces, tidy spaces, manage spills, and assist with event setups and teardown, ensuring venues meet event requirements.

Responsibilities include light maintenance, setting up for events, and moving between city locations. Qualifications include a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license; English proficiency is required for communication

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Previous custodial experience preferred.
• A valid driver’s license and favorable driving record are required.
• Must be proficient in reading and speaking basic English to communicate effectively.
• Willingness to stand, walk, lift, and perform repetitive tasks in varied indoor/outdoor environments.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize facilities and fixtures; wipe surfaces, remove spills.
• Set up and tear down furnishings for events.
• Operate custodial equipment and report maintenance or safety issues.
• Open/close buildings per procedures and monitor security.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and waste/recyclables handling.
