Job summary

City of Olathe Custodian I position keeps City facilities clean and welcoming for staff and visitors. You will wipe surfaces, tidy spaces, and assist with setup and cleanup for events across libraries and the community center.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and be able to pass background checks and drug screening. Evening shift Sunday-Thursday offers strong teamwork and reliable service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant experience may substitute.
• Valid driver's license with favorable driving record.
• Proficient in reading and speaking basic English.
• Must pass criminal background check, driving record review, drug screen, and job-related physical.

Responsibilities

• Uses appropriate equipment, chemicals and PPE to perform custodial services; cleans and sanitizes buildings and fixtures; participates in special cleaning projects; replenishes consumables such as paper towels and toilet paper; repairs or replaces dispensers as needed; disposes of waste and trash; gathers and sorts recyclable materials per operating procedures.
• Assists in setting up and tearing down furnishings for special events.
• Performs light maintenance including replacement of light bulbs and hanging pictures.
• Opens and/or secures building per operating procedures; observes and reports any security issues including unauthorized persons, graffiti and vandalism; drives between various building locations in the completion of work assignments.
