Job summary

The State of Indiana seeks a Custodial Supervisor for the Columbus armory to oversee cleaning, maintenance and operations of facilities and equipment. You will schedule work, supervise custodial staff, and ensure safety and quality standards.

This full-time role emphasizes reliability, attention to detail and ability to manage diverse teams across agency facilities. A degree is not required, and the State offers strong benefits and a comprehensive leave program.

Qualifications

• Through knowledge of standard process, practices, and procedures of the custodial trade.
• Advanced knowledge of proper operation of custodial equipment.
• Safety Data Sheets requirements and mixing of cleaning chemicals.
• Ability to supervise, motivate, and direct custodial staff.
• Use and maintenance of assigned power equipment and hand tools.
• Advanced knowledge of cleaning chemicals and solvents and their applications.
• Ability to maintain records and prepare progress reports.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in high-visibility offices.
• Ability to follow procedures for handling biohazard materials.
• Ability to follow mold remediation processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the use of custodial equipment and supplies.
• Schedule work to meet daily workflow and short/long term goals.
• Provide supervision, guidance, training, and support to other employees.
• Inspect all tasks for quality assurance and completion.
• Complete maintenance reports and daily activity inspections.
• Follow proper mold remediation procedures.
• Follow biohazard material handling processes.
• Keep inventory and material records up to date.
• Clean, restock consumables, and sanitize office spaces.
• Workday attendance at assigned worksite(s) is essential.
