Job summary

The Town of Greenwich is seeking a custodial assistant to support cleaning and order at the Cohen Eastern Greenwich Civic Center and other town buildings. You will vacuum, mop, dust, scrub floors, clean rooms and windows, and help prepare spaces for meetings and events.

Requires a high school diploma and at least six months of custodial experience. Must understand cleaning methods, follow instructions, and work long hours, including potential snow removal and transporting supplies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of materials, methods, and devices used in cleaning operations.
• Ability to perform routine and occasionally strenuous work during long hours.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and basic written instructions safely.
• Ability to maintain a satisfactory working relationship with others.

Responsibilities

• Assists custodians in cleaning duties: vacuums, mops, dusts, scrubs, floors; cleans rooms, halls, furniture and windows; washes dust mops.
• Assists with setting up areas for meetings, assemblies, exhibits, athletic programs and other activities.
• May sweep entryways; remove snow from entrances, exits and sidewalks.
• Transports supplies and equipment.
• May be required to work or crawl in close quarters (tunnels, attics, etc.).
• Completes all assigned tasks well and in a timely manner.
