Purpose

The Blanton Museum of Art seeks a Facilities Coordinator to support the general maintenance, operations, and building services oversight of the Blanton Museum of Art three-building complex and expanded grounds.The Facilities Coordinator will perform basic and complex maintenance and repair tasks as assigned to maintain a clean, orderly, and safe exterior and interior environment for museum visitors and staff.This position reports to the Building Manager.

Responsibilities

Grounds and Buildings Maintenance

Take lead on routine grounds maintenance tasks beyond the quality and scope provided by UT Landscape Services, including plant care and weeding, signage, decking, and window cleaning, loggia cleaning, exterior furniture cleaning and arranging, trash pick-up, exterior light issues

Maintain museum’s exterior loading dock, dumpster corrals, Museum Drop-Off, and parking areas

Perform routine building maintenance tasks, including light bulbs replacement and touch up paint as needed

Maintain a clean and safe interior and exterior of building and grounds, to include checking grounds and buildings for damage, theft, and vandalism

Prepare grounds for events and programs

Assist with technical repairs

Conduct general facilities walkthroughs and report nonstandard conditions

Enter service requests in UT service ticket system (WORKS) and report when work is completed

Maintain ongoing pest abatement routine

Move furniture, equipment, and materials, as needed

Augment maintenance schedules and complete tasks on schedule

Site Contact and Collaboration

Communicate with other departments on campus, including Landscape Services, Solid Waste and Recycling, and Irrigation Specialist

Point of contact for museum colleagues for grounds-related issues

Escort facilities and outside vendors, as needed, and report work completed

Equipment and Maintenance Inventory

Purchase, pickup, and maintain tools and materials as needed for the grounds

Track and report exterior expenditure needs

Monitor and maintain university maintenance equipment for safety and retention

Perform other related duties as requested to support departmental and museum-wide priorities, logistics, and special projects

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

2 years of experience as a laborer

A valid Driver License is required to travel to locations throughout the local area

Strong work ethic and high energy with a professional and friendly demeanor

Quick learner

Goal and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and high standards for excellence and accountability

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Ability to use small hand and power tools and ladders in a safe and efficient manner

Basic to intermediate painting skills sufficient to perform primarily touch up tasks

Must be willing and able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds

Ability to perform assigned duties in a safe and efficient manner

Good communication skills both verbally and written

Ability to work independently

Have and maintain a good driving record and be able to operate a UT vehicle

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Previous work experience in a museum, commercial property management or similar environment
