Job summary

Washington University in St. Louis is seeking a Facilities Operator for the 2nd shift to monitor building automation and fire alarm systems across campus facilities. You will respond to emergencies, adjust environmental controls, and coordinate with trades to minimize downtime.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid MO/IL driver's license. The position is on-site with a 3:30 p.m.–11:30 p.m. schedule and provides opportunities for training and growth.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience.
• Certifications/Professional Licenses: No specific certification/professional license is required for this position.
• Work Experience: Relevant Experience (1 Year).

Responsibilities

• Monitors building automation and fire alarm systems on computer workstations to support 24/7 operations.
• Provides emergency response to labs, vivariums, data centers, climate rooms, and other campus assets.
• Acts as the first responder to HVAC events, including resetting alarms and performing equipment shutdowns.
• Changes temperature, humidity, and airflow set points as needed.
• Triages service interruptions and documents impact, creating work orders.
• Maintains excellent customer service and escalation protocols.
• Learns building automation logic and assists with optimizing chillers to support cooling demand.
• Performs inspections and data entry for facilities management systems.
