Job summary

The State of Nebraska is seeking a driven Facilities Construction Coordinator II to oversee construction, facility renovations, and critical life/safety projects across NDCS facilities. From design through delivery, you will manage consultants, inspect field work, review plans, and ensure compliance with NDCS Engineering procedures and standards.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction and eight years of construction or inspection

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction (required).
• Eight years of experience in construction or construction inspection (required).
• Extensive work experience in construction may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction, facility renovations, and life/safety projects across NDCS facilities.
• Manage consultant partnerships and inspect field operations.
• Review architectural and engineering plans and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Review pay requests from outside consultants and contractors for accuracy.
• Supervise renovation projects and conduct periodic site visits.
• Assist in preparing budgets for capital construction, deferred maintenance, and life/safety projects.
• Review and approve change orders and final designs for plans and specs.
• Coordinate with NDCS Engineering team and facility staff during funding verification.
• Identify deferred maintenance needs by inspecting NDCS facilities.
