Job summary

The University of California, Irvine is seeking a skilled carpenter for Facilities Management. You will construct partitions, install drywall and doors, and work from blueprints and oral instructions to support campus buildings.

This role requires reading blueprints, using power tools safely, and strong communication with teams. A California driver license and 1–3 years of carpentry experience are essential, with weekend/on-call availability as noted.

Qualifications

• Strong command of the English language is mandatory (required).
• Proven ability to safely use hand held electrical power tools (required).
• Proven ability to safely use carpenter shop power tools (required).
• Ability to read blueprints and drawings (required).
• Must have strong interpersonal communication skills (required).
• Must have a valid California driver license (required).
• 1-3 years of experience performing general carpentry work, including construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of building components and fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Constructs new partitions, installs drywall, paneling, and hangs commercial and residential doors and frames working from blueprints, drawings, written and/or oral instructions.
• Installs and/or repairs floor tiles, installs suspended ceilings, cabinets, and demountable partitions, and minor furniture repair.
• Fabricates and installs Formica covered counter tops, cabinets, bulletin boards, chalkboards and repairs or rebuilds furniture.
• Maintains time and materials documentation for each job assigned.
