Job summary

Avison Young is seeking a Facilities Technician for our Boston area properties. This client-facing role requires dependability, experience in building maintenance, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with complex systems.

The base hourly rate ranges from $30.00 to $34.00, with potential bonus compensation. Pay varies by location and factors like experience and education. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and teamwork within a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in commercial building maintenance.
• Massachusetts driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must have own hand tools.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Operate building management systems and related monitoring systems (elevators, fire systems, work orders).
• Perform light building repairs – carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, ceramic tile.
• Conduct daily inspections of mechanical rooms, office and kitchen spaces.
• Work knowledge of heat – Electric boilers, electrical baseboards, heat pumps cooling tower.
• HVAC – working knowledge of heat pumps, fans, computer controls.
• Snow removal – as needed.
• Respond to occupant requests and coordinate with Property Management to resolve issues.
• Monitor vendor performance to ensure standards in service agreements.
• Facilitate maintenance with vendors and construction crews.
• Document repairs on work orders and maintain accurate information.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with client, tenants, vendors, and workers.
