Job summary:

Perform a variety of custodial and general housekeeping dutiesinvolving the care, cleaning and stocking of supplies in Collegebuildings, offices and residential areas. Provide customer serviceto assist in promoting a hospitable environment and positiveperceptions of College facilities. This position is considered tobe essential during emergency situations and the incumbent issubject to being requested to report to work.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the safety, cleanliness and order of indoor campusfacilities to include cleaning floors, walls, furniture and windowsin all campus buildings, student dorms and apartments.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and upkeep to include changinglight bulbs and clock batteries, resetting clocks,filling/refilling toilet paper/paper towels, and other relatedactivities.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of flooring and furniture in campusfacilities to include stripping and refinishing of hard floorsurfaces, buffing and burnishing of hard floors, operating shampooand extraction equipment for furniture and carpeting, andidentifying and removing all spots and stains in carpets.
  • Clean campus facilities after bio-hazards and/or traumaticevents; properly dispose of all trash and bio-hazardousmaterials.
  • Clean custodial tools and equipment; inform supervisors ofdamage or replacement needs; complete and submit all necessarypaperwork, records and logs, as necessary.
  • Maintain the safety, cleanliness and order of outdoor campusfacilities to include cleaning building entrance ways, balconies,trash receptacles, and College-owned properties off-campus; removesnow and ice from building entrances, steps and walkways.
  • Unlock entrances to buildings and classrooms.
  • Prepare for College events and activities to include lining andsetting-up event areas and securing appropriate seatingarrangements for events; pull out bleachers for sporting events andassist with lighting; operate elevators, as needed and monitorevents to ensure safety and cleanliness.
  • Provide hospitality services and perform housekeeping dutiesduring the summer period to include cleaning rooms; changinglinens; making beds; and stocking towels, soap and cups. Facilitatelinen exchange. Ensure timely and efficient turnover of facilitiesto accommodate incoming guests.
  • Develop and demonstrate multicultural awareness and contributeto cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful Collegecommunity. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior wheninteracting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to theCollege. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work andliving environment and engage in educational opportunities toincrease awareness and understanding of diversity andinclusion.
  • Provide customer service to assist with special needs ofCollege visitors and promote a hospitable environment.
Qualifications:

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work withminimal supervision; good interpersonal and communication skillsand the ability to effectively work and interact respectfullywithin a diverse and inclusive environment; familiarity withvarious cleaning agents and related equipment; the ability to liftand carry 40 lbs. and climb a 6-ft. ladder are required. A validNYS Driver's License or the ability to obtain one is preferred, butnot required.

This position is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.
