Job summary

Ithaca College is seeking a Utility Worker/Dish Machine Operator to ensure cleanliness and sanitization of dishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils using both manual and machine methods. The role also involves maintaining a safe and clean dishwashing area and may be required to report to work during emergencies.

The position requires lifting up to 50 lbs, a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, and strict adherence to safety and hygiene standards within the Dining

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to adhere to all food preparation and service standards.
• Capacity to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., reach overhead, bend, stand for long periods, squat, and perform repetitive motions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, overtime, and some holidays.

Responsibilities

• Scrape, rinse, and load dishes and utensils into dishmachine.
• Wash and sanitize all pans, utensils, and dishes.
• Clean, sanitize, and maintain dish machine.
• Unload dishes and utensils from dish machine and organize them properly.
• Manually wash pots and equipment that cannot be run through the dish machine.
• Empty trash containers regularly.
• Sweep, mop, and remove trash, recycling, and compost from all unit areas as needed and during assigned times.
• Service unit dining rooms. Aid in cleaning and sanitizing tables and chairs as needed throughout meal periods.
• Clean and sanitize high touchpoints in the dining room, front-of-house, and back-of-house.
• Perform additional cleaning duties as requested.
• Operate a baler.
• Communicate often, clearly, and professionally with co-works and management.
• Greet guests with a warm, friendly demeanor.
• Provide exceptional customer service for all guests.
• Uphold all required safety, service, and hygiene protocols and adjust practices to meet College and state regulations.

Job Summary

The Utility Worker/Dish Machine Operator is responsible andaccountable for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitization ofdishes, tableware, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils throughmanual and machine cleaning methods. Required Qualifications

• Ability to adhere to all food preparation and service standardsset by Ithaca College Dining Services staff.
• Capacity to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., reach overhead, bend,stand for long periods of time, squat, and perform repetitivemotions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights,weekends, overtime, and some holidays.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous dining and dish room experience.
• Knowledge of proper sanitation, HACCP procedures, basic foodhandling and safety.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the abilityto provide excellent customer service while working effectively andrespectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment.

Work Environment

The Utility Worker/Dish Machine Operator completes work within anaccessible, safe, indoor, and occasional outdoor environment. Longperiods of walking, standing, bending, and carrying moderatelyheavy items (up to 50 pounds) may be necessary. Employees will beissued and/or required to wear slip-resistant shoes.

This position is 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Compensation

$17.00 per hour, commensurate with qualifications andexperience.
