Job summary

The Arc Ontario is seeking a Facilities Assistant in Canandaigua, NY. This part-time role supports year-round grounds maintenance, painting, and general upkeep across agency sites, ensuring safe, clean and welcoming environments.

You will work 20 hours per week (11am-3pm Wed; 7am-3pm Thurs & Fri) and assist with lawn care, snow removal, and basic repairs under the guidance of Facilities Specialists. Valid NYS driver's license required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred and at least one year experience in painting/landscaping maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience accepted (i.e. BOCES or vocational/trade school).
• Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
• Must have a valid NYS Driver's license.

Facilities Assistant

Salary: $18.54 - $19.75

Position Overview: The Facilities Assistant at The Arc Ontario supports the upkeep, safety, and appearance of all agency properties by handling year-round grounds maintenance that includes lawn care, landscaping, snow removal, and general exterior upkeep. This role also assists with painting, surface preparation, wall covering repairs, and a variety of maintenance tasks alongside the Facilities Specialists. The Facilities Assistant ensures equipment is used safely and maintained properly, follows agency standards for quality and safety, and completes assignments independently while modeling professionalism for individuals supported by the agency.
