Facilities Manager

As a key team member, the Facilities Manager is accountable for the outcomes of all facility operations, ensuring security, safety, cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance across our production building, office, and warehouse spaces. The facilities manager will be responsible for identifying the root causes of issues, developing and implementing effective solutions, and communicating clearly and confidently with executive leadership. This role requires close coordination with cross-functional stakeholders such as engineering, maintenance, operations, research & development, and the people teams to ensure seamless facility management. The facilities manager will lead by example, holding themselves and their team accountable for measurable results. Depending on team size and business needs, the facilities manager may supervise direct reports.
Safety & Security
What you'll do as a Facilities Manager:
- Own and drive the implementation of facility safety programs, including safety training and required inspections, ensuring the highest standards and continual improvement.
- Lead incident and injury investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Proactively resolve unsafe work areas and ensure PPE is always in stock.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, and safety-related activities.
- Conduct routine walkthroughs, escalate concerns, and partner with stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Manage and oversee facility security, including physical and intellectual property security.
- Responsible for ensuring all security cameras provide continuous coverage for at least 30 days, and for conducting regular audits to confirm compliance and optimal camera placement.
- Manage and audit Kisi security card access and camera systems (Reolink) regularly for 100% coverage.
- Ensure the facility is secured at all times, including visitor NDAs, key/lockbox access, and parking lot safety.
- Audit all facility programs regularly-including safety, security, sanitization, inventory, and maintenance ensure compliance, effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Facilities Upkeep, Cleanliness & Sanitation
- Provide strategic oversight and management of facility cleanliness and sanitation-including pest control-consistent with our standards as a food facility. Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices to ensure facility upkeep at all times. Responsibilities include:
- Manage third-party vendors such as landscapers and cleaning contractors to maintain operational excellence.
- Oversee timely trash removal and snow removal as necessary to ensure uninterrupted facility access and safety.
- Ensure adequate cleaning supplies and other common area supplies are consistently in stock and readily available.
- Guarantee all farm uniforms, farm suits, lab coats, and additional uniforms are maintained in stock at all times.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness in bathrooms, kitchens, and all common areas, recognizing that facility cleanliness is paramount in a food production environment.
- Hire, train, and manage staff and contractors as required, ensuring alignment with budget and project requirements to fulfill operational responsibilities.
- Understand, implement, and enforce food safety policies, including worker hygiene, sanitation protocols, and the maintenance of proper documentation.
Warehouse Management
- Accountable for ensuring proper inventory locations (correlated with WMS), racking and warehouse oversight for raw materials and packaging for two sites
- Own proper receiving and check-in of shipments for major inventory items. Own all paperwork, truck unloading, and digital recording of all inventory.
- Conduct weekly cycle counts (i.e. 1-2 SKUs) of fast-moving inventory items (primarily packaging) to ensure accuracy, adjusting quantities with finance as needed
- Conduct monthly full inventory of the warehouse, with accountability to finance, to provide full inventory levels for financial adjustment
- Help train/coach the operations team in proper check-out of inventory when depleting to ensure good inventory records are maintained
As Part Of Local Leadership
- Champion operational excellence by establishing and maintaining a highly organized facilities team structure, ensuring every team member understands their role, responsibilities, and workflow to drive efficiency and accountability across all facility operations.
- Execute routines and priorities as defined by LCC and GCC Leadership, aligning all activities with organizational objectives and standards.
- Develop, monitor, and continuously improve key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and enhance facility performance, providing regular, data-driven management updates to key stakeholders and managers for full alignment and transparency.
- Enforce the disciplined use of the Acctivate inventory management system to ensure accurate, real-time tracking, control, and reporting of all inventory, consumables, and non-product materials across the facility.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, such as maintenance, to ensure seamless, integrated operations and organizational alignment.
- Proactively coordinate and troubleshoot with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve potential issues, escalating gaps as necessary to maintain operational continuity and excellence.
- Serve as a people manager, as appropriate to facility size, by directing work, providing feedback, evaluating performance, assigning tasks, setting goals, coaching team members, resolving issues, and ensuring consistent staffing levels to support business needs.

What We Look For In a Facilities Manager
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in business or other relevant field is a plus!
- 3+ years of experience working in a farming, production, warehouse or similar environment.
- 3+ years of experience leading teams.
- Must have a vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Solid computer literacy and familiarity with technology such as ConnectTeams, Google suite, Slack, Asana etc.
- Flexibility & Ownership mentality: There may be times where you may have to respond to emergencies or issues off hours that impact the facility or your team.
