Job description

Little Grassy Camp and Retreat Center is seeking applicants for its Facilities and Grounds Manager position. This full-time, exempt position includes on-site house housing provided in addition to salary and benefits.

The Facility & Grounds person resides on-site and is responsible for the maintenance, operations, and stewardship of the buildings, grounds, and infrastructure of Little Grassy Camp and Retreat Center. This role ensures that the camp’s physical environment is safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained for campers, retreat guests, and ministry programs.

Working under the supervision of the Site Manager, the Facilities & Grounds Coordinator provides hands‑on leadership for the care of facilities, equipment, and outdoor spaces. Responsibilities include maintenance of buildings and grounds, coordination of repair projects, supervision of volunteers doing facilities repair, scheduling contractors for site work, and support for guest group hospitality through facility readiness and operational support.

Approximately 75% of the position focuses on hands‑on maintenance and care of the property, while 25% involves planning, coordination, and administrative responsibilities related to facilities management.

Through faithful stewardship of the camp’s facilities and natural environment, the Facilities & Grounds Coordinator helps to ensure that Little Grassy remains a place where guests can connect with nature, community, and Christ in a safe and welcoming setting.

Qualifications

Support for the vision, mission, and core values of the Little Grassy Camp and the Illinois Great Rivers Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Experience in maintenance, facility management, construction, property care, light plumbing, and electrical.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance tasks and projects.
Passion for outdoor ministry and working in a camp environment.
Ability to extend a spirit of radical Christian hospitality to campers and guests.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively with staff, volunteers, and guest groups.
Basic computer proficiency for scheduling, communication, and documentation.
Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.
Must pass a background and sex offender registry check.

Certifications
