Job summary

Tulsa City-County Library is seeking a full-time Facilities & Fleet Technician to maintain library properties and assist in scheduling and maintenance of the fleet vehicles. The role involves hands-on maintenance and travel to library locations across Tulsa County.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain library facilities including HVAC, roofing, plumbing, sheet-rocking, minor electrical, and concrete work as directed.
  • Travel to TCCL locations to perform repairs and general maintenance.
  • Oversee vehicle fleet maintenance and liaise with dealerships for repairs (approx 10 hrs/week).
  • Use computer-based work order and fleet systems and Outlook.
  • Provide support for events and set up equipment as directed by Facilities Manager.
  • Safety-sensitive tasks include operation of vehicles, forklift, and power tools.

Facilities and Fleet Technician

Looking for steady hours, good benefits, and a job where you can put your skills to work? Tulsa City-County Library is looking for a full-time Facilities & Fleet Technician to help maintain our properties and assist in the scheduling and maintenance of our fleet vehicles.

Some of the perks of this position include guaranteed 40 hours a week with occasional opportunities for overtime, a preferred schedule of 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Mon. - Fri., no on-call rotation, benefits, and paid continuing education and opportunities to learn new skills.

This is a hands‑on maintenance position. You'll travel to TCCL locations throughout Tulsa County and handle a wide variety of building maintenance and repair work. You don't have to be a master of every trade, but you should be comfortable working with your hands, figuring out problems, and getting the job done right.

Fleet Responsibilities will include about 10 hours each week helping take care of TCCL's vehicle fleet. This includes keeping up with scheduled vehicle maintenance, identifying vehicle problems, and working with dealerships and repair shops to make sure repairs are handled correctly. You'll also use our computer‑based work order and fleet systems to keep track of maintenance and completed work, so being proficient in Outlook programs and a quick learner in other software is a must.

We want someone who is dependable, takes pride in their work, and can work independently. You'll need to communicate with library staff, contractors, vendors, dealerships, and repair shops, so being able to talk to people professionally and clearly is important.

Location: Support Services Center - 1339 N. Lansing, Tulsa, OK. 74106

Salary: $21 - 25/ hr based on experience with opportunities for merit‑based increases and advancement

Status: Full Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday, preferred 6:00am - 2:30pm, flexible availability and occasional evenings and weekends may be required.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintains library facilities, including HVAC, roofing, plumbing, sheet‑rocking, minor electrical, and concrete work as directed;
  • Assists with delivery and library grounds keeping, including lawn mowing, tree trimming, planting, irrigation repair and maintaining flowerbeds, removing weeds, snow removal;
  • May paint, as required, to maintain appearance of central and branch libraries;
  • Performs janitorial duties including sweeping, cleaning, and washing windows, including cleaning carpet and upholstery;
  • May receive, sort, and distribute intra‑and inter‑library mail, conduct pickups and deliveries for central library, unpack and sort new materials and freight, and/or sort and prepare outgoing mail for Central and branch libraries;
  • Provide support for events at various branch locations to include, but is not limited to, set up of furniture, facilities and other equipment as directed by the event coordinator and Facilities Manager;
  • Perform the following Safety Sensitive functions:
    • Operation of company owned vehicles, forklift, heavy equipment, machinery, and power tools;
    • Extracts, compresses, handles and/or transports potentially volatile, flammable, or combustible components;
    • Repairs, maintains and monitors the performance of equipment and machinery;
  • Actively supports TCCL’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion efforts, and the Library’s Be All In culture;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Skill in maintenance, mechanical, painting, grounds keeping and carpentry work;
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively;
  • Ability to safely maneuver and operate a library vehicle and equipment;
  • Ability to pass a pre‑employment (post‑offer) physical and drug screen;
  • Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
  • lift truck and boom lift certification preferred

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

Physical Activity: Work involves considerable physical exertion, such as regularly lifting of heavy items (up to 80 pounds) such as carts or crates full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.

Work Environment: Work involves risks of discomforts, which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; may require working in adverse weather conditions. Work environment involves routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The job may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.

Travel: Routine, in‑town travel using Library‑owned vehicles is required.
