The Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Director of Facilities, the Facilities and Engineering Manager provides leadership and oversight for the Engineering Services team and is responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of campus building systems and infrastructure.

This role leads a team of skilled engineering and maintenance professionals while overseeing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, building automation systems, HVAC equipment, power plant operations, electrical systems, elevators, plumbing systems, and food service equipment.

The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, team development, and long-term capital planning to support the mission and strategic objectives of Moody Bible Institute.

What Youll Be Doing
Leadership & Team Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop full-time and part-time Engineering Services staff.
  • Assign, prioritize, and monitor work activities to ensure efficient department operations.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Oversee attendance, scheduling, payroll administration, overtime management, and employee relations matters.
Facilities Operations & Maintenance
  • Direct and support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of campus infrastructure systems, including HVAC and building automation systems, boilers and heating systems, centrifugal chillers and refrigeration equipment, ventilation and air conditioning equipment, pumps and compressors, plumbing systems, electrical systems, elevators, food service equipment and appliances.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and system failures to minimize disruptions to campus operations.
  • Ensure facilities operate safely, reliably, and efficiently in support of students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track work orders, maintenance schedules, equipment history, and performance metrics.Monitor equipment condition and lifecycle needs to maximize asset reliability and reduce operational risks.
Capital Planning & Continuous Improvement
  • Develop and maintain short- and long-range maintenance and capital improvement plans.
  • Prepare recommendations and proposals for repairs, replacements, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and operational effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align maintenance priorities wi h campus needs.
Technical Expertise & Project Support
  • Serve as a technical resource for facilities systems, controls, and infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and contractors on facility improvement initiatives and system modifications.
  • Provide input during design, construction, and commissioning activities related to campus infrastructure projects.
Compliance & Safety
  • Ensure compliance with applicable city, state, and federal building regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements and industry best practices.
  • Support campus emergency preparedness and response efforts related to facilities systems.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation, records, certifications, and inspection requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
