Job summary

Afinitas seeks a skilled fabrication/welding technician to interpret blueprints, set up welding equipment, and join metal fabrication teams in a plant environment. You’ll perform MIG, TIG, and flux-core welding, read routings, and help ensure part quality while maintaining safe operations.

Ideal candidates work well in teams, handle multiple tasks, and communicate clearly to resolve production issues. On-site role with day shift and opportunities for growth within our manufacturing group.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and interpret basic blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints.
  • Beginning level grinding knowledge.
  • Beginning level experience in MIG, TIG, and flex core welding.
  • Team oriented and strong communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Ability to obtain and operate mobile equipment needed for essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment and select appropriate consumables for MIG, TIG, and flux-core processes.
  • Perform basic saw operations and painting as required.
  • Measure dimensions with micrometers and calipers to ensure tolerances.
  • Inspect finished units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specs.
  • Report defective material or operational issues to supervisor.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings to address cost, quality, or production issues and apply change processes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow safety procedures.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Description:


Work Schedule Monday thru Thursday 5 am to 3 pm-Friday OT, as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied.

  • Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices.

  • Perform basic saw operations and painting as required.

  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.

  • May measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.

  • Assist with detection of defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor.

  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.

  • Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process.

  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

  • Maintain equipment and work area in clean, orderly, and safe condition.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT


  • Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals. Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.
