Job summary

Afinitas is seeking a skilled Welder in our manufacturing environment. The role requires interpreting blueprints, performing MIG/TIG welding, and operating related equipment with attention to quality and safety. You will work from basic drawings, assist with fabrication, and contribute to continuous improvement in a plant setting.

Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and interpret basic blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints.
  • Beginning level grinding knowledge.
  • Beginning level experience in MIG, TIG, and flux core welding.
  • Team oriented; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Ability to obtain and operate mobile equipment needed to perform essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods.
  • Set up and operate welding equipment; adjust current, gas pressures, and electrodes.
  • Perform basic saw operations and painting as required.
  • Measure dimensions with micrometers and calipers.
  • Inspect units for defects and ensure conformance to specs.
  • Assist with defect detection and report to supervisor.
  • Document quality and production records.
  • Participate in team meetings to resolve cost/quality issues.
  • Follow safety procedures and keep workspace clean.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Work Schedule Monday thru Thursday 5 am to 3 pm-Friday OT, as needed. Vacation, health insurance, dental, vision and more start day 1!

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied.
  • Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices.
  • Perform basic saw operations and painting as required.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • May measure, examine, and test completed units to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
  • Assist with detection of defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals. Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.
