Job summary

MDS Staffing in Harlan, IA seeks a Fabricator – Machine Operator to set up, adjust and run fabrication equipment to produce metal components per blueprints and work orders.

You will uphold safety, quality, and maintain accurate production records while interpreting drawings and process routings. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or 1–2 years' experience, basic math, and strong communication and time management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or 1–2 years of experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Basic math skills including dimensions, quantities, metric conversions, algebra and geometry.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, diligence, and time management skills.
• Welding experience is a plus but not required.

Job Title: Fabricator – Machine Operator

Location: Harlan, Iowa

Salary: $22-28/hour

Job Summary of the Fabricator – Machine Operator:

The Fabricator Machine Operator will set up, adjust, and operate fabrication equipment to produce metal components according to blueprints, specifications, and work orders. This role is responsible for maintaining safe operations, quality standards, and accurate production records.

Job Duties & Responsibilities of the Fabricator – Machine Operator:

• Operate fabrication equipment, including press brakes, rollers, punch presses, sanders, drills, grinders, shears, saws, and other fabrication machinery.
• Utilize measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, rules, squares, angle gages, and height gages.
• Practice the highest degree of safety when performing essential duties of his position.
• Read and interpret parts drawings, process routings, and production requirement information.

Education & Experience Requirements of the Fabricator – Machine Operator:

• High school diploma or equivalent, or 1-2 years of experience.
