Job summary

Samuel Pressure Vessel Group is hiring for a skilled welder/fabricator. The role requires reading blueprints and drawings, performing MIG welding, and maintaining precise records. Candidates should be able to read a tape measure, operate overhead cranes, and comply with safety procedures.

The team collaborates to produce high-quality pressure vessels and parts. Qualified applicants will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year in a similar setting or related education.

Qualifications

  • Good oral communication skills; 1 year experience in a similar environment or 1 year post-high school education in related field.
  • Ability to read and interpret receiving-related documents and write reports.
  • Mathematical skills including proportions, percentages and volume; basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning ability to follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and drawings for pressure vessels, BOMs and safety rules.
  • Maintain accurate job records and TPM sheets; clock in IFS.
  • Weld to X-ray quality with an 85% pass rate and ensure high workmanship.
  • Operate overhead cranes and use power roll equipment safely.

Job description

  • Must be able to read blue prints and drawing of pressure vessels, bills of materials, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to clock jobs accurately in IFS
  • Must be able to read a tape measure to within 1/32”
  • Must be crane certified
  • Must be capable of X-ray quality welds and maintain a 85% pass rate
  • Must be trained in confined space entry & familiar with all documentation required prior to entry along with all safety instructions pertaining to confined spaces.
  • Must be able to follow detailed instructions whether written or oral given by any member of supervision or management…including team leaders using common sense understanding.
  • Must be able to produce prior work records indicating dependability and conscientiousness.
  • Maintain an organized, clean,and neat work area along with upkeep of all TPM sheets.
  • Must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate well with other employees, supervision, and management.
  • Must be willing to perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Must be familiar with and able to follow all policies and procedures.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must be a certified mig welder
  • Must be able to perform general maintenance to the mig welding machines
  • Must be able use pneumatic grinders and impacts safely
  • Must be able use and read a level with accuracy
  • Must be familiar and able to use a com-a-long
  • Must be able to use and operate overhead cranes safely
  • Must be familiar and able to operate power turn rolls safely
  • Must be able to completely and accurately fill out all required paperwork such as travelers on a daily basis.
  • Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation.Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Good oral communication skills, 1 year experience in a like environment, or a minimum of 1 year post high school education in a related field.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret receiving related documents.Ability to write reports and correspondence related to receiving.Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry.
  • Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
