Job summary

Samuel Packaging Systems Group in Houston, TX is seeking a data-driven procurement professional to lead branch-level demand planning and drive inventory efficiency across metals like carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel. You will align with regional managers, coordinate with sales on pricing and lead-times, and manage supplier lead times to optimize stock levels.

In this role, you will create and file purchase orders, track KPIs, and implement cost-saving procurement practices while working

Qualifications

  • Data-driven with strong analytical skills for reporting and decision making.
  • Understanding of forecasting and replenishment concepts in supply chain.
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Align with regional Procurement Manager to execute procurement strategies.
  • Lead demand planning at the branch level for standard items and contracted business.
  • Coordinate with sales on pricing, lead-time, and inventory levels.
  • Create, issue and file all purchase orders in a timely fashion.
  • Track KPIs and report cost savings and on-time delivery to the Regional Procurement Manager.
  • Ensure inventory replenishment aligns with forecasts and targets.
  • Provide procurement guidance to the Sales team.
  • Develop new procedures to safety and loss prevention.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Job description

  • AlignwithRegionalProcurementManagerintheexecutionofprocurementstrategies forCarbon Steel, Aluminum, Stainless Steel.
  • Takelead inthedemand planning process at thebranchlevelforbundled standarditems,contracted business and day to day transactional procurement activities.
  • Coordinatewithsales group oncontractual business and correspondinginventory levels and provide supplier pricing and lead-time.
  • Align withregional ProcurementManager to deploy metal supply chainpractices withinthebranchand drive improvements,specifically inventory efficiency.
  • ProvideProcurementandSupplyChainguidanceto theSales team.
  • Ensureprocurementpractices atthelocal/plantorganizationsareconsistent withenterprisewideprocurement practices in terms of execution and processes.
  • Reviewandensureinventory replenishmentcommitments areconsistent with business needs, sales forecasts and inventory targets hand in hand with Regional Procurement Manager.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs), including cost savings, purchase price variance, and on-time delivery; present findings with supporting analysis to the Regional Procurement Manager.
  • Create,issueandfileallpurchase ordersinatimelyfashion.
  • Develop and recommend newprocedures and approaches to safety and loss prevention based onreports of incidents, accidents, and other data gathered.
  • Otherresponsibilitiesasassigned.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Datadriven withstrong analytical skills; ableto generate a wide range of reports and process datathat forms the basis for solid decision making.
  • Understandssupply chainconceptsasrelatedto inventorymanagementandriskmitigation.
  • Havegained very good understandingof forecasting and replenishmentconcepts as part of asupply chain organization directly or indirectly.
  • Aproponentofchangewhocanintroducemodernprocurementconceptsandinfluencepeople.
  • Excellentoraland writtencommunication,interpersonalandnegotiationskills.
  • Possesstheabilitytoworkwithminimumsupervision.
  • Goodorganizationandtimemanagementskillsaswellastheabilitytomeetdeadlines.
  • Multi-commodityexperienceinCarbonSteel,StainlessSteel andorAluminum isaplus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience required.

EQUIPMENTKNOWLEDGE:

  • ProficientinMicrosoftOfficeSuite(EspeciallyExcel)
  • Proficiency inusing procurementsoftware, ERP systems, and otherdigitaltools for procurementprocesses and data management.

PHYSICALDEMANDS:

  • Therole primarily involvesoffice-based workanddoes not entail significant physical demands beyond typical office activities.
  • Monthly travel to supported branches is required, with additional travel as needed
