Job summary

Samuel, Son & Co. is seeking a skilled welder to read blueprints and drawings for pressure vessels and follow detailed operating and safety instructions. The role requires accurate measurement, crane operation, and the ability to produce dependable work records daily.

You will work in a team, maintain TPM sheets, and follow company policies while contributing to quality and continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret receiving documents and write reports.

  • Basic algebra, geometry and proportion calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and drawings of pressure vessels and bills of materials.
  • Read a tape measure to within 1/32 inch and perform accurate measurements.
  • Maintain organized work area and TPM sheets; follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Operate overhead cranes safely and handle equipment with care.
  • Produce dependable work records and follow detailed instructions from supervision.

Job description

DUTIES ARE AS FOLLOWS:
  • - Must be able to read blue prints and drawing of pressure vessels, bills of materials, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • - Must be able to clock jobs accurately in IFS
  • - Must be able to read a tape measure to within 1/32”
  • - Must be crane certified
  • - Must be capable of X-ray quality welds and maintain a 85% pass rate
  • - Must be trained in confined space entry & familiar with all documentation required prior to entry along with all safety instructions pertaining to confined spaces.
  • - Must be able to follow detailed instructions whether written or oral given by any member of supervision or management…including team leaders using common sense understanding.
  • - Must be able to produce prior work records indicating dependability and conscientiousness.
  • - Maintain an organized, clean,and neat work area along with upkeep of all TPM sheets.
  • - Must be willing to work in a team-oriented environment and communicate well with other employees, supervision, and management.
  • - Must be willing to perform all other duties as assigned.
  • - Must be familiar with and able to follow all policies and procedures.
EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
  • - Must be a certified mig welder
  • - Must be able to perform general maintenance to the mig welding machines
  • - Must be able use pneumatic grinders and impacts safely
  • - Must be able use and read a level with accuracy
  • - Must be familiar and able to use a com-a-long
  • - Must be able to use and operate overhead cranes safely
  • - Must be familiar and able to operate power turn rolls safely
  • - Must be able to completely and accurately fill out all required paperwork such as travelers on a daily basis.
  • - Flexible and responsive with a strong teamwork orientation. Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • - Desire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledge.
  • - Strong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement.
  • - Ability to work well in a fast paced environment to meet team expectations.
  • - Commitment to quality and accuracy of work performed.
  • - Demonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to change.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • - Good oral communication skills, 1 year experience in a like environment, or a minimum of 1 year post high school education in a related field.
  • - Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret receiving related documents. Ability to write reports and correspondence related to receiving. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other employees of the organization.
  • - Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry.
  • - Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
