Job summary

Afinitas is hiring 2nd Shift Fabricators for a role involving welding and fabrication. The position requires the ability to interpret blueprints, operate welding equipment, and perform measurements for quality assurance. The work schedule is Monday to Thursday from 2:45 PM to 12:45 AM.

Successful candidates will be team-oriented with beginning level experience in MIG and TIG welding.

Job Description

Afinitas is hiring 2nd Shift Fabricators. Shift is 2:45 pm‑12:45 am with a $2 / hour shift differential. Work days Monday‑Thursday 10‑hour days.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications, and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied.
  • Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job; fit, position, and secure with holding devices.
  • Perform basic saw operations and painting as required.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
  • May measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers.
  • Assist with detection of defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
  • Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process.
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Maintain equipment and work area in clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and interpret basic blueprints, specifications, and machined part prints.
  • Beginning level grinding knowledge.
  • Beginning level experience in MIG, TIG, and flex core welding.

Work Environment
  • Works in a plant/manufacturing environment that involves the use of industrial machinery and chemicals. Employee must be able to correctly wear and use any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required at the location.
