Job summary

Afinitas in the United States is seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to interpret drawings and set up welding operations on metal parts. You will perform welding, brazing, flame cutting, and related tasks with arc, shielded arc, and oxyacetylene equipment, while maintaining quality and safety standards.

You will measure using micrometers and calipers, select rods and electrodes, document production steps, and participate in team meetings to resolve quality or cost issues.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interpret drawings and specs to determine welding methods.
• Set up and operate welding equipment (arc, shielded arc, oxyacetylene).
• Adjust current, amperage, gas pressures and controls; select electrodes and tips.
• Fit, position, and secure with holding devices; perform basic saw operations and painting as required.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances with micrometers and calipers; ensure quality and conformance to specs.
• Document production steps and participate in team meetings to resolve issues.

Job Description

Interpret basic drawings, route sheets, specifications and instructions to determine methods and techniques to be applied Set up and operate metal arc, shielded arc, or oxyacetylene equipment for welding, brazing, and flame cutting operations; set current, amperage, gas pressures and controls; select rod, wire, tips, electrodes for specific job at hand; fit, position, and secure with holding devices Perform basic saw operations and painting as required Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers May measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments such as micrometers Assist with detection of defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report to supervisor Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements Participate in team meetings to communicate and help resolve any cost, quality, or production issues; understand and apply engineering change request process Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures Maintain equipment and work area in clean, orderly, and safe condition Other duties as assigned
