About the Role

CDG Ironworks, a leader in commercial steel fabrication and metalworks in Omaha, NE, is seeking a Shop Manager to lead our production team and ensure the highest standards in fabrication quality and shop operations.

This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who brings both technical fabrication expertise and a passion for guiding and developing a small but mighty team.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management (50%)

• Supervise and coordinate a team of 5–6 shop employees
• Assign tasks, maintain production schedules, and manage workflow
• Ensure safety protocols, quality control, and production efficiency are upheld
• Train new employees and provide on-the-job coaching
• Promote a team culture of accountability, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement

Fabrication & Production (50%)

• Actively participate in daily fabrication of structural and miscellaneous steel components
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols
• Operate fabrication tools and equipment such as saws, presses, grinders, and welding machinery
• Perform quality checks to ensure all work meets technical specifications and standards

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on fabrication experience in structural steel and miscellaneous metalworks
• Proven leadership experience in a shop or industrial production setting
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications
• Proficiency in using fabrication equipment and welding tools
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality assurance, and team development
