Job summary

Schuff Steel Co. in Phoenix, AZ seeks a Production Planning Engineer to schedule and progress all steps required for fabrication through product delivery.

You will build fabrication schedules for new projects, run what-if scenarios, and coordinate with multiple departments to optimize productivity and on-time delivery. The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 3+ years in fabrication or construction scheduling, and proficiency with Primavera or Microsoft Project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
• Three or more years of related scheduling experience in fabrication and/or construction.
• General knowledge of fabrication/construction methods, processes, scheduling, and coordination.
• Scheduling software such as Primavera, Microsoft Project, and similar tools.

Responsibilities

• Builds fabrication schedules for new projects.
• Maintains fabrication schedules based on progress of activities.
• Runs What-if scenarios for fabrication assignments to various shops.
• Analyzes shop productivity and collaborates with Plant Manager to improve.
• Coordinates with departments and aligns Fab Schedules with other scheduling tools.
• Advises on opportunities for productivity improvements.
• Forecasts shop manpower needs using resource loading.
• Participates in project meetings regarding schedule progress.
• Develops fabrication indicators to measure shop performance.
• Assists scheduling of work and materials with sub-fabricators.
• Tracks sub-fabricator adherence to the project schedule.
• Evaluates changes to scope of work and impacts to production schedule.
