Altec is seeking a Fabrication Machine Operator in Birmingham, AL to set up and run metal-formed components used in our industrial equipment. You will read blueprints, adjust machines, and inspect parts to ensure they meet specifications.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, basic computer literacy, and the ability to work with measurement tools. Training and safety screenings are part of the onboarding process.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Vocational or technical training may substitute for experience.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend work instructions.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Drug screen and physical are required.
• Experience reading blueprints/schematics.
• General knowledge of mechanical systems or manufacturing processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate fabricating machinery such as brakes, rolls, shears, lasers, punches, saws, and presses to cut, form, and shape metal or fiberglass materials.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specs, and shop orders to determine setup, production methods, and sequencing.
• Select, position, and secure dies, fixtures, and other components using measurement tools.
• Monitor machine operation and adjust settings, dies, or workpiece positioning as needed.
• Inspect finished work using gauges, rulers, calipers, micrometers, and templates to ensure quality.
• Manually or mechanically lift workpieces and secure them in machine fixtures.
• Control feeds, speeds, tool depth, and bending parameters.
• Produce work within routed times to support department efficiency.
