Equiliem is seeking a Fabrication Associate in Kansas City, MO. This hands-on role involves pipe handling, cutting, threading, beveling, grooving, and assembly in a shop and yard setting.

Responsibilities include operating fabrication machinery, performing measurements and quality checks, and preparing pipe orders for shipment while adhering to OSHA safety guidelines in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6-8 months of mechanical or machinery experience.
• 6-8 months operating band saws, pipe threaders, plasma cutters, or welding equipment.
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
• Ability to use gauges for quality checks.
• Strong basic math skills for quantities and measurements.
• Understand and follow safety instructions and work directions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Move pipe throughout the shop and yard, both loose and bundled.
• Assemble pipe orders as pieces or bundles and keep areas organized.
• Follow safety procedures for fabricating, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping pipe.
• Operate powered industrial equipment per OSHA and procedures.
• Set up, operate, and maintain pipe fabrication machinery.
• Measure, record, and add random pipe lengths.
• Measure and cut pipe using band saws or torches.
• Thread and bevel pipe with threading equipment.
• Perform quality checks with gauges and measuring tools.
• Inspect and maintain forklift equipment.
• Sort and handle pipe 1/2 inch to 10 inches.
• Maintain a safe, organized, productive work environment.

Job Summary

The Pipe Fabrication Operator performs pipe handling, cutting, threading, beveling, grooving, and assembly activities in a manufacturing and pipe-yard environment. This hands‑on role operates and maintains fabrication machinery, performs measurements and quality checks, and prepares pipe orders for shipment. The position requires recent mechanical experience, familiarity with industrial machinery, and the ability to work safely in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Move loose and bundled pipe throughout the shop and yard.
• Assemble pipe orders as individual pieces or bundles and maintain organized work areas and supplies.
• Follow established safety procedures for fabricating, cutting, assembling, stacking, and shipping pipe.
• Operate powered industrial equipment in accordance with OSHA requirements and established procedures.
• Set up, operate, and maintain machinery used for pipe fabrication.
• Measure, record, and accurately add random pipe lengths.
• Measure and cut pipe using band saws or torches.
• Thread and bevel pipe using pipe-threading equipment.
• Perform quality checks using gauges and measuring tools.
• Inspect and maintain forklift equipment.
• Sort and handle pipe ranging from 1/2 inch to 10 inches.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 6-8 months of recent mechanical or machinery-related experience.
• Minimum of 6-8 months of recent experience operating machinery such as band saws, automatic welding machines, pipe threaders, roll groove machines, plasma cutters, or pneumatic banders.
• Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
• Ability to use gauges and other measuring tools for quality checks.
• Strong basic math skills for calculating product quantities and measurements.
• Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and work instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills for operating or interacting with automated machinery.
• Ability to safely handle and sort pipe ranging from 1/2 inch to 10 inches.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment that may become very hot.
• Ability to perform physical work involving pipe handling, material movement, and extended periods of standing.

Preferred Qualifications

• 6-8 months of experience in fire sprinkler pipe fabrication.
• Experience with pipe cutting, threading, grooving, beveling, or welding equipment.
• Background in automotive mechanics, machinery maintenance, diesel mechanics, automotive manufacturing, farm equipment, or similar mechanical environments.
• Experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with pipe‑yard operations and material handling.
