Job description

Czarnowski is one of the four studios of the Czarnowski Collective. It combines operations, strategy, design, and fabrication to create exhibits and events that engage communities, generate brand enthusiasm, and educate consumers. It’s been over 75 years since we opened our doors, but we’re still not resting on our reputation or accolades. We’re wondering “what if...” anticipating what’s next and embracing our role within the Czarnowski Collective as forward-thinkers for forward-thinking brands.

Joining the Czarnowski Collective means the opportunity to be more than a number, more than a job title, more than a spectator. We are a collective of dreamers and thinkers, doers, and makers…and we’re searching for more of the same to join the ranks.

The Purpose:

The Sewing Lead coordinates daily sewing production and works alongside sewing assistants to complete accurate, quality work within required deadlines. This role assigns work based on employee skills and job priorities, reviews sewn pieces, resolves sewing issues, and trains new assistants.

The Job:
  • Organize and assign the sewing workload according to required completion times, job priorities, and employee skill levels.
  • Perform advanced and custom sewing work, interpret job requirements, and troubleshoot sewing issues to keep production moving.
  • Conduct preliminary reviews of sewn pieces and attachments, identify imperfections, and coordinate corrections before work moves to the next stage.
  • Train new sewing assistants and provide practical guidance on workmanship, production procedures, and documentation.
  • Monitor progress, communicate sewing needs and job status proactively, and raise issues that could affect quality or deadlines.
  • Complete production tracking checkboxes as each piece is finished and accurately sign math sheets with name, date, and time.
  • Prepare for weekly meetings, participate actively, and initiate discussion of production needs and improvements.
  • Maintain focus, discourage nonoperational distractions, and model respectful conduct, a positive attitude, and openness to feedback.
  • Follow and reinforce the Finishing Room policies and department procedures.
The Person:
  • Maintain a sewing rework rate below 2 percent at the Level 2 standard.
  • Complete assignments quickly and diligently while meeting required completion times and established production standards.
  • Maintain at least 95 percent on-time attendance and minimize unplanned absences.
  • Communicate planned time off at least two weeks in advance and remain present and productive during required peak production schedules, including 65 or more hours per week.
Required Capabilities:
  • Demonstrated proficiency in sewing, quality review, and troubleshooting, with the ability to handle advanced and custom assignments.
  • Ability to prioritize work, direct assistants, train employees, and maintain accurate production records.
  • Clear communication and consistent professional performance. Internal lead eligibility includes no performance improvement plan in the preceding year.
What we offer:
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits effective within 30 days (or less) of your start date
  • 401K matching with no vesting period (you are fully vested as of day 1)
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Paid Holidays
  • Collaborative Work Environment
Collective Culture Core Values:

  • We celebrate creativity, curiosity, innovation and imagination.
