Job summary

Austin Lighthouse for the Blind is seeking a Fabric Repair Lead to oversee floor activities in the Fabric Repair department and operate power sewing machines for military apparel, backpacks, and fabrics. You will assist with daily production data entry and help ensure products meet TAB/Army standards.

You will maintain repair material stock, evaluate repairability from a cost-benefit perspective, and coach the team to sustain productivity and morale in a values-driven environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to operate power sewing machines.
• Experience in manufacturing or military apparel is a plus.
• Strong ethics and discretion with confidential information.
• Ability to manage day-to-day floor operations.

Responsibilities

• Leads floor activities in the Fabric Repair department.
• Operates power sewing machines to sew, alter, or repair military apparel, backpacks, and assigned fabric articles.
• Assists with entering data from the previous day09s work that tracks repair production and helps create daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly reports.
• Maintains adequate stock of repair material and supplies.
• Assists the Supervisor in determining which items are economically repairable based on cost-benefit analysis.
• Verifies product is up to TAB/Army standards and corrective actions.
• Coaches, mentors, and motivates the team for productivity and morale.
• Communicates company policies and information to employees via multiple channels.
• Promotes TABs Safety and Security policies.
• Hold self and others accountable to TAB09s Core Values (LIGHT).
• Other duties as assigned.
