Job summary

TRI Environmental, Inc. seeks a skilled Maintenance and Repair Technician for our SW Austin facility. You will lead maintenance, repair, and fabrication of a range of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic lab equipment used in materials testing.

The role requires hands-on work with mills, lathes, welding, and instrumentation, plus CAD-readiness to modify drawings and components. You will collaborate with engineers and technicians to ensure equipment reliability.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude with experience repairing and maintaining equipment.
• Fabrication experience with metal, wood, plastics.
• Machining experience with mills and lathes.
• Electrical & instrumentation knowledge; troubleshooting.
• CAD software experience; read technical drawings.
• Problem solving and root-cause analysis.
• Attention to detail and quality in fabrication and repair.
• Good communication with engineers, vendors, customers.
• Basic computer skills; document repairs and records.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lb and perform shop tasks.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, repair, and maintain test equipment for various uses.
• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and lab equipment.
• Identify defects or failures and determine repairs; return to operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and support testing operations.
• Fabrication, modification, repair, and assembly of components using wood, metal, plastics, and other materials.
• Read drawings and CAD drawings to fabricate and assemble components accurately.
• Use power tools, hand tools, drilling and tapping equipment safely.
• Coordinate with outside vendors regarding repairs and maintenance requirements.
• Communicate repair status and technical requirements with customers, vendors, engineers, and lab staff.
• Support engineering and lab teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
