Job summary

Western Alliance Bancorporation seeks a Principal Engineer I focused on Microsoft Fabric performance engineering within Enterprise Data & Analytics. You will optimize Fabric workloads, govern platform reliability, and partner with data engineers and analysts to deliver scalable analytics across Data Factory, pipelines, notebooks, lakehouses, warehouses, semantic models, and Power BI reports.

You will lead design decisions, implement observability, and stay current with Fabric and Azure data

Qualifications

• 8+ years of related experience in data analytics platform operations and administration.
• 1+ years of Microsoft Fabric related experience.
• 3+ years of Microsoft Power BI related experience.
• Advanced to expert experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Power BI environments, including tenant settings, capacity management, workspaces, RBAC, gateways, deployment pipelines, REST APIs, activity/audit logs, monitoring, and operational support.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end Microsoft Fabric architecture and related services.

Responsibilities

• Optimize, automate, and maintain the Microsoft Fabric analytics platform for scalability, security, governance, reliability, and performance.
• Identify bottlenecks across the Fabric analytics value chain and recommend design improvements.
• Tune workloads, manage capacity, and enable teams to build reliable and performant Fabric solutions.
• Provide end-to-end performance engineering support across Fabric components and Power BI reports.
• Establish observability practices using Fabric, Power BI, Azure Monitor, logs, metrics, and telemetry.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and architects to optimize pipelines and data processing.
