Job summary

Hydro is seeking a Fab Tech - Welder I in Delhi, LA to join our production team. You will identify proper welding wire and alloy for base metal and set welding parameters for aluminum work.

This role requires the ability to pass an on-site welding test and handle high-volume small welds in a fast-paced assembly environment. Qualifications

  • Must be able to safely lift to 40 lbs repeatedly.
  • Stand on hard surfaces during work.
  • Work in non-climate-controlled temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Identify proper welding wire and alloy for the base metal.
  • Set up wire, rollers, tips, difusers, and wire tension as needed.
  • Set welding parameters (voltage and wire speed).
  • Demonstrate competency in GMAW techniques with aluminum in multiple positions.
  • Perform post-welding brushing, cleaning, straightening and inspect weld quality.

Shifts Available: First Shift 5AM to 1PM
What you will be doing
  • Identify proper welding wire and alloy is used for the applicable base metal.
  • Ability to change wire, rollers, tips, diffusers, nozzles and set proper tension on rollers.
  • Ability to set proper welding parameters (voltage & wire speed).
  • Demonstrate competency in GMAW techniques with solid wire on aluminum in the Flat, Horizontal & Vertical Fillet Positions.
  • Demonstrate competency in post welding treatment – i.e., brushing, cleaning, straightening & weld quality.
  • Pass Welding Performance Test (given on-site during interview process-Q.A. determination).
  • Fast paced assembly style facility.
  • Ability to handle several hundred small welds applied in a single shift.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate the ability to safely lift to 40 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
  • Must have the ability to stand on hard surfaces while working.
  • Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled temperatures.
  • Commitment to participate in continuous improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical Training Desired with focus in Welding.
  • Welding Certification, preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills
