Job summary

Leidos’ NISC IV program seeks an Electrical Engineer/Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to support FAA Spectrum Engineering Services Group in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on preventing interference with CNS systems across the NAS and requires an electrical engineering degree with RF experience.

The engineer will conduct RFI investigations on-site or remotely, coordinate with regulatory bodies and project teams, and travel up to 50% to different states as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; electromagnetics coursework preferred.
  • 2+ years of RF engineering experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn FAA-specific software and systems.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report RF interference affecting NAS operations.
  • Assess urgency and impact of incoming RFI reports to prioritize responses.
  • Conduct remote and on-site RFI investigations using historical data and RF tools.
  • Perform on-site investigations with spectrum analyzers, direction finders, and antennas.
  • Interpret data and apply mitigation best practices to minimize NAS disruption.
  • Coordinate with system users, engineering leads, and frequency managers.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on interference issues, methods, findings, and resolutions.
