Job summary

Leidos LLC is seeking a Radio Frequency Engineer/Spectrum Engineer to support FAA Spectrum Engineering Services in Washington, DC. The hybrid role necessitates regular on-site presence to access an SCIF and handle classified information.

The candidate will perform RF interference analyses, spectrum management, and geospatial evaluations to protect NAS and CNS systems, with opportunities to work with TCAT/GMF tools and produce technical reports for diverse stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related technical discipline, or equivalent military education/experience.
• 2+ years of RF/spectrum engineering, EMI/EMC and interference analysis, RF propagation/modeling, geospatial analysis, frequency coordination, or spectrum management experience.
• Ability to interpret RF specifications and data (frequencies, bandwidths, power levels, antenna/emission characteristics, receiver parameters, geographic operating parameters).
• Ability to identify potential RF interference, spectrum compatibility, or frequency deconfliction issues between systems.
• Experience using RF/spectrum engineering tools, modeling/simulation, propagation analysis, GIS/geospatial analysis; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholders across engineering, management, and government.

Responsibilities

• Conduct RF spectrum compatibility and interference analyses for C-UAS systems, including frequency deconfliction, RF propagation, and geospatial analysis.
• Evaluate FAA C-UAS test, training, and operational requests and provide technical support for testing and evaluation activities.
• Assess NAS impacts and develop mitigation recommendations using RF modeling, spectrum databases, and geospatial data.
• Identify technical controls such as frequency, power, geographic, or operational restrictions to protect FAA/NAS systems.
• Prepare STA requests using AFM to support temporary C-UAS spectrum operations.
• Use RF tools (TCAT, GMF) for circle searches, transmitter/receiver analyses, and D/U calculations.
• Prepare technical reports and briefings communicating analysis results and mitigation recommendations to stakeholders.
