Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC seeks a Formula 1 Mechanical Design Engineer to develop high-quality powertrain components through robust design in NX and Teamcenter. You will solve complex problems from concept through release, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.

The role emphasizes proficiency in NX, Teamcenter, and GD&T, with a strong foundation in engine fundamentals and a focus on manufacturability and lightweight design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, design, or automotive engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years of automotive product design experience.
• Experience as automotive design engineer, preferably in powertrain.
• Proficiency with Siemens Teamcenter and NX.
• Strong knowledge of internal combustion engine fundamentals.
• Excellent written communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD models and assemblies documenting design intent with design standards and GD&T.
• Apply design for manufacturing and design for assembly to parts and subsystems.
• Perform basic linear static structural analysis to optimize component stiffness and mass.
• Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing partners for timely production.
• Participate in design reviews and share lessons learned with the team.
