Job summary

Village Family Eyecare is seeking an outgoing Optician / Eyewear Specialist to join our small, independent practice. You will guide patients through eyewear options, take precise measurements, dispense eyewear, and help with insurance benefits to ensure a smooth experience from selection to pickup.

You will also assist with front desk tasks, maintain an organized optical area, and support a friendly team in a collaborative office environment. Training is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn insurance benefits and practice management software.
• ABO certification preferred.
• Experience with vision or medical insurance is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build genuine relationships with patients and guide eyewear choices.
• Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses based on prescription and lifestyle.
• Educate patients on lens options, materials, and coatings.
• Take measurements, dispense and adjust eyewear, handle fit or vision concerns.
• Explain vision benefits and out-of-pocket costs clearly.
