Job summary

Northshore seeks an Optician to perform pre-tests for the Optometrist, fill ophthalmic eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions, and fit lenses and frames per policy.

The role includes evaluating prescriptions, recommending lenses, taking facial/eye measurements, and guiding patients in selecting frames and caring for eyewear. Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in a healthcare setting (preferred).
• Associate’s degree in healthcare related studies or related training.

Responsibilities

• Conducts pre-tests for the Optometrist and handles ophthalmic prescriptions.
• Fits and adapts lenses and frames according to policy.
• Measures optical parameters and maintains patient records.
• Prepares work orders and coordinates with the lab for lens fabrication.
• Assists patients in selecting frames and care for eyewear and lenses.
• Maintains inventory and ensures a clean, sterile environment.
