Job summary

The Veterans Ccanteen Service (VCS) at the Waco VA Medical Center is seeking an experienced Health Tech (Opticians) to support optical operations and serve as a liaison between eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams.

Responsibilities include customer service, eyewear fittings, order processing, and coordination with clinics and vendors to ensure accurate prescriptions and timely delivery for U.S. Veterans. Valid REAL ID required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience working as an Optician.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist with frame selection, pricing, products and delivery timelines
• Perform eyewear fittings and obtain measurements using digital pupilometers, lensometers, and other tools
• Document patient information and measurements in CPRS
• Process eyewear orders, collect payments, and enter orders into VA systems
• Promote lens options and upgrades in a consultative, no-pressure manner
• Collaborate with eye clinics, laboratories, prosthetics staff, and vendors to track orders and resolve issues
• Address customer concerns professionally and escalate complex issues when necessary
• Maintain eyewear displays in a clean, organized, and visually appealing manner
• Support merchandise control, pricing, recordkeeping, and protection of inventory and fixed assets
