Job summary

The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) is seeking experienced and motivated Health Tech (Opticians) to support operations within VCS Optical Shops at the Waco TX VA Medical Center. This role coordinates optical operations and acts as a key liaison between VCS, eye clinic providers, and prosthetics teams to enhance veteran experience.

Candidates should have at least 1 year of optician experience, be able to work independently, and demonstrate strong prescription interpretation and optical

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as an Optician.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently while managing responsibilities efficiently and maintaining high standards of patient service.
• Ability to identify prescription discrepancies or anomalies and take appropriate corrective action to ensure accuracy and patient satisfaction.
• Skilled in identifying and resolving optical issues, including prescription verification, transitions verification, optical center alignment, segment height accuracy, and appropriate frame selection.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate optical operations and serve as a liaison between VCS, eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams.
• Deliver exceptional service by ensuring accurate prescriptions and patient satisfaction.
• Identify prescription discrepancies and resolve issues to ensure accurate dispensing.
• Perform optical verification and quality assurance, including alignment, measurements, and frame selections.

• Licensure & Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience working as an Optician required.

• Prescription Interpretation & Problem Resolution: Ability to identify prescription discrepancies or anomalies and take appropriate corrective action to ensure accuracy and patient satisfaction.
• Optical Verification & Quality Assurance: Skilled in identifying and resolving optical issues, including prescription verification, transitions verification, optical center alignment, segment height accuracy, and appropriate frame selection.
