Job summary

Visionworks of America is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for onsite and remote examinations, run pre-exam tests, and explain each step of the process. You will liaise between patients and optometrists, supporting initial steps of the patient journey and ensuring quality care.

The role requires at least one year of related experience with an optical/healthcare background preferred, and a HS diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• One year of related experience
• Optical or Healthcare background preferred
• Medical office/business professionalism required
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
• Training provided

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and collect medical history and ocular health data in EMR
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations; document results in EMR
• Support remote eye exams: pre-testing, testing, and document results; initiate remote video conferencing
• Transition patient to retail associate with doctor recommendations
• Explain MVC plan benefits and preauthorize insurance per SOPs
• Schedule appointments and manage exam books; contact no-shows and cancellations
• Maintain patient flow for doctor efficiency; answer clinical questions by patients
• Instruct patients on contact lens usage and care; place and stock diagnostic contact lens orders
• Maintain clean clinical environment and equipment; ensure nightly coverage
• Participate in training and obtain required clinical certifications
• Be flexible for travel to other locations
