Job summary

Visionworks of America is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to prepare patients for onsite or remote examinations and conduct pre-exam testing. The role liaises between patients and Optometrists and participates early in the patient journey.

The position requires one year of related experience, HIPAA-compliant data handling, and strong customer service skills. You may travel to other locations and work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of related experience in optical/healthcare preferred.
• HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience.
• Medical office professionalism required.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient registration and submit Medical History and Ocular Health data into EMR.
• Assist onsite doctor with patient care and eye examinations; explain preliminary tests to patients and document results in EMR.
• Support remote appointments by guiding remote eye exams, initiating video conferences, and documenting results.
• Transition patients to a retail associate with clear handoff of doctor recommendations.
• Preauthorize insurance following SOPs and coordinate exam bookings, no-shows, and cancellations.
• Maintain patient flow to support doctor effectiveness and answer clinical questions in person or by phone.
